Introducing "Blast From the Past", My New Class at Big Picture Classes!

Hey everyone!

I'm excited to be here today sharing the launch of my Big Picture Classes class, "Blast from the Past".  You may remember me sharing a little bit about it here. My launch date was moved up from November to TODAY!

That's right, the class is now LIVE!

If you're like me, you have all kinds of photos laying around, waiting to be scrapbooked...  The task can seem daunting and overwhelming. How do you choose what photos to scrapbook? Where will you find the time? Where do you even begin?

Well friend, your worries are over!

I have a process for sorting through your collection of photographs (both printed and digital), organizing them, and getting them into a pocket page album. I have tips and tricks that will help you break the entire process into fun and manageable steps. By the end, you’ll have a gorgeous album filled with an entire year’s worth of your favorite memories!

If you're not already a member of Big Picture Classes, I highly recommend them.
In fact, you can sign up for a FREE two week trial here!

I'll see YOU in the classroom!

Psst!  Follow me on Instagram to catch all the sneak peeks of the album I created for the class, including some lovely products from the amazing Felicity Jane Studio.

Easy, Simple 9x12 Pocket Page Scrapbook Layout featuring Paislee Press's School Years Collection

Hello Thursday!  Who's ready for a little #tbt?

Today, I'm sharing a super simple, quick layout I created while working on my 2010 (yes! you read that right!) Pocket Page Album for my upcoming class at Big Picture Classes! So, not only is this a feature of some new products for one of my creative teams, it's also a sneak peek of what is coming up in my class!

Easy, Simple 9x12 Pocket Page Scrapbook Layout featuring Paislee Press's School Years Collection

With kids getting ready to go back to school, the amazing Liz Tamanaha over at Paislee Press designed this fun School Years collection.  I'm totally loving all the script and word art.  I used the journal cards and the tags in this bright, simple layout I created with some photos I did for my sister's senior year back in 2010.

I journaled on the 3x4 card, then trimmed it down and laid it over a striped journal card. I also popped in that green polka dot piece of paper from an older Felicity Jane kit because it made the tag pop and well honestly, who doesn't love green OR polka dots?!

I topped the tag off with a cute little piece of mini flair from Feed Your Craft and called it done.  I love doing these simple layouts with the focus really being on the photos.  If you're interested in learning more about how I'm pulling together an entire annual album from one year's worth of boxed photos, then you're going to love my Big Picture Class coming up in November. Check back on this blog for more information and links on how you can get access to my class closer to then!

#LittleSummerJoy 2016 | A DIY Mini Album Celebrating Summer (via LittlePaperProjects.com)

Hi friends!

Do you love taking on new projects?  I do! I love the challenge of thinking outside the box, digging into something creative and pushing myself to try something new. This year, when LittlePaperProjects.com announced they were returning with #LittleSummerJoy and challenging us to create a traveler's notebook style mini album, I was so excited!  I've done traditional scrapbooking in the past, along with my pocket pages but hadn't ever really created something in book format.  So I decided to challenge myself to see what I could create.

My initial goal was to use supplies on hand from stash so my project would be budget friendly.  With summer being a really busy time for us, I wanted to keep my project simple so I could create and finish the project in a couple of weeks. Lastly, I wanted to make certain I took time to journal and really record the things that mattered - the memories, the thoughts and the feelings of this summer.

You can see the first few pages of my DIY traveler's notebook here and below are images from the rest of my project. At the bottom of this post are my thoughts on the project including what I learned and what I loved about the project.

While the class at LittlePaperProjects.com is still on going, I had to wrap up my project early (check back here on Aug. 1 for a big announcement!) due to some other responsibilities and time constraints.  I have never really been a fan of the summer months but doing this class has given me a greater appreciation for the summer months and the little moments of togetherness, adventure and excitement that each day brings. I also love the community surrounding this project/class. So many talented, wonderful creatives coming together and building each other up while encouraging each other to find daily joy is truly amazing.

In doing the project, I had so much fun layering paper and adding crazy embellishments.  I really enjoyed that I could create hybrid pages as well by printing my journaling and using digital elements from my favorite designers. I wanted to bind my album and insert it into my 6x8 three ring binder... HOWEVER, I first had trouble with self binding since my pages were thick and the book became quite large. Second, I found that I personally couldn't escape the idea of wanting to protect those pages and memories from fingerprints and smudges. So, instead of binding my book, out came the 6x8 full sleeve page protectors and in went each lovingly created page of my #LittleSummerJoy album! Surprised? Probably not.  I just felt so much better having my work protected, even if it didn't "look" exactly how I had wanted it to! In the end, it's not a traveler's notebook, but it is lovingly created pages of memories I'll cherish from this summer and to me, that is all that matters.

I'd love to hear how your project is coming along! Leave me a comment below with your thoughts and a link to your project!

#LittleSummerJoy 2016 | A DIY Mini Album Celebrating Summer (via LittlePaperProjects.com) - Week 1

Hi friends!  If you're in the same hemisphere as myself you're probably experiencing warm weather, sunshine and all the fun summer activities that come along with this time of year.  While summer hasn't always been my first choice for favorite season, I'm really learning to embrace the time of the year and all it has to offer. That is directly related to the #LittleSummerJOY class by my friends over at LittlePaperProjects.com.  This week, they've been celebrating the little things that add some joy into our daily lives and I joined in.

Road Trip | 9x12 Pocket Page Scrapbook Layout featuring Paislee Press.

Happy Thursday, friends!

Today, I'm sharing a quick layout from my 9x12 annual pocket page album with a spread using some of my January photos. Winter pictures tend to be really bland for me with a lot of contrast.  When that happens, I like to mix in a little black and white with small pops of color. Most of you who follow me, know that I like to incorporate elements that match the "theme" of my spread. Therefore I pulled elements and word art from the Road Trip and On the Road sets by Paislee Press. To complete my color palette, I mixed in some 3x4 cards using papers from Felicity Jane, the Goes With Everything and Artiste collections from Paislee Press.

For this layout, I pulled the orange from my husband's shirt and the teal from my winter coat to create a fun, winter spread. For us, this day was all about a road trip. It had recently snowed in our area so we snuck off to the mountains in hopes of a gorgeous winter day and instead found thick fog and layers of ice cascading off the mountain.  Even though it wasn't what we hoped for, it was a day well spent together.

2015 December Daily® Days 14 - 25 | A Holiday Memory Keeping Project

Earlier this week, I shared this photo on Instagram and asked if I should share the rest of my 2015 December Daily. The response was pretty clear that several of you wanted to see the rest of the album, even though it is after Christmas and many of you are probably feeling "over the holidays"!

So this will be my last share on this album... I was able to finish everything up with a little planning and a couple of free hours one evening.  While my album wasn't exactly as cohesive in color as I would have liked, I'm happy it's done and I can move on. Done is better than perfect.  To make my photos match up with the colors I had been using, I could have turned them black and white, but I feel like that might have stolen some of the character of them.

At the bottom of the post, I've linked up some of the products I've used. Enjoy!

This time of year, things start to get busier and busier. The rush of the holiday season begins and I find myself having less and less time in my scrapbook room.  When that happens, I find myself leaning more towards minimalist, clean layouts.

I have recently discovered a favorite new combination - pairing Peppermint Granberg's beautiful, stark designs with the eye catching, three dimensional flair from Feed Your Craft.  I keep a dish of my favorite flair right on the top of my desk so they're only a reach away and I love popping them on a layout as the perfect embellishment.  This layout features the newest collection from One Little Bird, called Honeycrisp.  In addition, I added flair buttons from the So Thankful set, available in Elise's store at Feed Your Craft on Etsy.
