Hiatus | Weekly Prompt and Link Up for Memory Keepers and Creative Bloggers

Hi friends! For those of you in the western hemisphere, summer is finally upon us on all. The days are longer and there is more time to be spent with family and friends.  I am looking forward to a slower pace over these next few months as my husband and I continue to heal from the loss of our first child and focus on spending time together with our family. I'm working on getting my creative "mojo" back while I continue with my personal project of converting old home video VHS tapes to DVD. In addition, I'll still be creating for Paislee Press and One Little Bird, so I'll still be sharing my layouts here and on Instagram.

As a result of this shift in focus, I'll be putting #hashtagthisweek on pause for the months of June, July and August

In the meantime, please allow me to encourage you to check out all of the past #hashtagthisweek prompts. There are many you may not have had a chance to participate in so now is a great time to review, catch up, and link up!  Feel free to add your projects anytime and continue to share your photos and stories on social media under #hashtagthisweek.

On The Move | Weekly Prompt and Link Up for Memory Keepers and Creative Bloggers

Hi All!

I'm excited to announce our guest host Kimberly Oedekoven today! Kim is one of my Instagram pals and I just love her creativity. We have worked on several projects together in the past and she never ceases to amaze me! Plus, today she's sharing some of her own project inspiration with us!

"My idea with this prompt is physically moving. Whether that means moving from an apartment to your very first house, moving on a bicycle, walking, hiking, taking the bus ride to work each day, taking the subway to the museum or on the monorail to Disney World for the first time! On the move could mean so many different things to so many different people." - Kim

Never Stop Dreaming | Weekly Prompt and Link Up for Memory Keepers and Creative Bloggers

One of my favorite Rascal Flatts song has lyrics that quote "Let your dreams stay big and your worries stay small..." In really letting those words sink in, it's a beautiful sentiment. So many of us are dreamers.  Dreams create hope and hope fuels our daily drive. This week, I want to encourage you to document your dreams - dreams from the past, the present, and for the future. Never stop dreaming.

Don't forget I have these free Digital Design Essentials journal cards available in the archives from last year's prompt "Sweet Dreams"

Out on the Town | Weekly Prompt and Link Up for Memory Keepers and Creative Bloggers

...and we're back!

This week, my inspiration for this prompt is to take a photo and tell a story about the town in which we live. A favorite place, a favorite street, a special memory...

A Letter to 18 Year Old Me | Weekly Prompt and Link Up for Memory Keepers and Creative Bloggers

Hi everyone, I am so excited to be sharing a new, featured guest with you today!

Sarah Fuchs submitted this idea recently and I felt it fit this month so well with us kicking off the new year talking about goals, motivation, and self worth. Thank you for inspiring us this week Sarah!

Here is Sarah's inspiration:

I was looking through old pictures of me and I found some of the summer I was 18. My life was so different from today. I was so different. And a ton of thoughts came to my mind, about what I wanted to tell my 18 year old self.

I wanted to tell myself all the things I did great and the things that were great - like my body, my dreams, my friendships. I wanted to tell myself to love me more and to enjoy those things.
And I wanted to tell myself all the things that will change and what I should have stopped doing right then. What would you want to tell your 18 year old self? What did you do great? What did you not appreciate the right way and what should you have let go of then?

Write a letter about yourself when you were 18 (or optional another age).

Take a photo of yourself from that age, look at it and think about your life then and things will pop up in your head you could write about. If not, here are some more questions for get your writing going:

  • What were your dreams? How did they change? Did some of them become true? Are you still dreaming the same dreams?
  • Who were your friends? Did you profit from those friendships? If yes, why? If not, why not?
  • How did you threat your parents? How should you have?
  • What were you afraid of? Where your fears appropriate? If not, why not?
  • How was your self esteem? Did you like yourself? How did you treat yourself? How should you?
  • What were your talents? Do you still use them or not? Why not? Did you discover new once?

You see there are a ton of possible things you could write about.

This topic is also perfect for reflecting on yourself right now: are you the person you always thought you would become?

Grab your paper and start writing and embellish and decorate afterwards, the words matter.
Have fun!

Technology Love | Weekly Prompt for Memory Keepers featuring Tracey Holdyk

Hi friends!  This week we have a special treat - one of my favorite inspirations has offered to host our prompt this week - Tracey Holdyk!

Tracey and I have worked together on several different teams and are Instagram pals.  I really adore her style in addition to her never ending creativity so I'm excited to share what she has in store for us this week!

"In this age of technology it seems there is a machine or device to do just about anything we need.  Is there one piece of technology that you just couldn't live without, something that you use or need everyday.  For me it's my iphone.  I couldn't live a day without it.  It goes everywhere with me and I am never very far away from it.  The funny thing is, is that I use it for everything but a phone.  My iPhone has everything I need.

I use it to send and receive emails, do my banking, connect to social media, tell the time, its my calendar, stop watch, internet search engine, my GPS, I send and receive messages, it's my personal trainer, calorie counter, TV, movie theatre, radio, calculator, compass, note pad, keeps track of my appointments, tells me the weather, it's also my stereo, library of my fav books, address book, camera (I take alot of food photos), photo editor... oh, and sometimes I make the odd phone call.  So in a nut shell it holds my life.  If I lost my phone I would be lost."  - Tracey

Sky Stories | Weekly Prompt for Memory Keepers by Michelle of A Beautiful Mess To Me

Hi everyone!
You might have noticed that #Hashtagthisweek was skipped last week! Oops! That was bad timing on my part with a pretty large home renovation vs. work schedule.  But I'm back this week with a slightly newer look that allows the images to be more branded to my website. (This is only the THIRD change since the beginning of this series but I am confident this one will stay throughout the rest of this year and into 2016)

Without further ado, I want to introduce #hashtagthisweek participant Michelle with a fantastic prompt!

HTTW-Skies-1000px.jpg

"Hello Everyone! I'm Michelle and I am absolutely tickled to be hosting the "hashtagthisweek prompt with Mandy!

The theme for this week is #skies. I stumbled upon this prompt while editing photos of my daughter's soccer game and a stormy evening from this summer. When I began the process of editing these photos, the skies in the background literally jumped off the screen at me! They were simply breathtaking and impossible to ignore. From sunrises to sunsets, from stormy skies s to rainbows, from cotton-candy clouds to clear blue skies, as the skies change so does  our mood and sense of place in this world. Skies are ever present yet always changing, just like our everyday lives.

This week head outside and document the different #skies of YOUR week and share them with us! Or, go back through some of the photos you have already taken and look at them with a "skies" filter to create a new story--different from the original subject of your photo. It's kind of fun and thought-provoking to come at your photos from different angles and to uncover deeper stories. Enjoy!"        - Michelle

In the Past | Weekly Photo and Journal Prompt/Challenge for Memory Keepers

Sometimes I find myself feeling nostalgic... reminiscing of days gone by, reliving memories from the past.  Its the source that fuels my passion for memory keeping and encourages the desire to document the aspect of our daily lives.  This week, I encourage you to dig up some old photos and create a spread around them, tell a story about those photos, or document something that happened in the past.
