Sharing Holiday Traditions, a FREE Holiday Bucket List Printable and 5 Sundays of FREE Christmas Movies via Pureflix.com!

Just 38 Days Until Christmas!

This time of year is my absolute favorite time of the year.  The holidays bring so much joy and so many opportunities to spend valuable time focusing on the things that really matter in life, like faith, family and gratitude.

Since November snuck up on me, I didn't get an opportunity to create a Gratitude Project again this year.  You can see the traveler's notebook style album I put together last year here.  Instead, I decided to focus my spare time on preparing to create a holiday album that encompasses our gratitude for the year, all three major holidays and all of our favorite holiday traditions, which I'm sharing more about below!

I'll be using a 6x8 size binder with supplies I already have on hand and using some digital designs in hybrid format, so stay tuned because I'll be sharing more about that in the upcoming weeks. In the meantime, you can click here to see my 2015 album and here to see my 2016 album

Since this decision, I've put thought into the things I want to focus on.  Since this could very well be our last Christmas together as a couple without children (did you know we're adopting?!), I really want to document our favorite holiday traditions. While I know none of our traditions are unique, they are all traditions that bring the spirit of the holidays to our lives and our family time together. Here are a few I'm looking forward to:

PACKING OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD SHOEBOXES: This is my favorite tradition.  My husband and I usually pack 4 shoeboxes each year. We typically buy for the boxes all year long, but this year things were a little too busy so we instead spent one late evening after work collecting items and packing our shoeboxes to be delivered to church.  I slipped a little note for each child inside the boxes and they'll be collected this week to be shipped out all around the world.  What a wonderful way to spread holiday joy and Jesus's love around the world.  You can learn more about Operation Christmas Child via Samaritan's Purse.

DRIVING AROUND LOOKING AT CHRISTMAS LIGHTS: One evening before Christmas, usually on a nice chilly evening, we jump in the car and take off for burgers and ice cream at Freddy's.  After our little stop for food, we drive around town and visit some different light shows while listening to Christmas music.  This was a tradition for each of us as children and we've continued it together as a married couple. We are so excited for the day when we will have a little one with us to enjoy the lights also!

PROGRESSIVE DINNER ON CHRISTMAS EVE: This is a very new tradition for my husband's side of the family, one we started last year. However, after a HUGE success, we unanimously agreed to keep it.  With life being so busy throughout the year, family time with his side of the family is few and far between.  However, setting aside the entire day for a progressive dinner was really sweet. We spent a little time at each home and spent the entire day together.  Plus, it really broke up the amount of work and cooking each home had to do so it didn't fall all on one person or couple.  We are really looking forward to this tradition again.

BAKING COOKIES: Each year this tradition looks a little different for me.  Throughout the year, I don't do much baking so I always eagerly anticipate putting on some Christmas music and baking for an entire day. Some years it has been with my mom, other years with my mother-in-law, and even still other years are with my sister. We never keep all the goodies to ourselves... We always share with our friends, family and neighbors.  Yet another way to spread holiday cheer!

WATCHING CHRISTMAS MOVIES: This last tradition is probably one you all look forward to as well. With all the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, it is nice to stay home, cuddle up under a warm blanket with a cup of hot cocoa and enjoy a quiet evening together, as a family, near the twinkling lights of the Christmas tree.  Ahhh, I can almost taste the hot chocolate already!  This year, I am SUPER EXCITED because beginning on Nov. 26th through Christmas Eve, Pure Flix is going to be sharing a FREE holiday movie every SundayEven better, because PureFlix.com is a faith and family based company, I know these movies are sure to be heartwarming and great for all ages.

Digital Prayer Journal Cards Now in the Shop plus a FREE Printable Scripture Card

This year, I opted not to choose a "One Little Word".  Every time, I tried to think about a word for me, I kept coming back to a feeling I wanted for this new year.  The feeling I wanted to create was one of calm, quiet, focus, and deep personal convictions.  As I thought more about it, I felt God calling me to a sense of time with Him, in prayer, looking for guidance and strength.

Recently, a good friend of mine suggested I start, and keep, a prayer journal.  I found the idea really intriguing and while I've kept journals all my life, I'd never kept a prayer journal surprisingly. I was anxious to start, but waited a few months to think through the process of how I wanted to keep the journal.  I have decided to keep it private for obvious reasons so I'll only be sharing a little bit here today.

This isn't something I'm sharing to boost my pride, but rather something I thought you may be able to benefit from.  I don't take my time with God lightly and I don't desire to promote it.  My prayer time is personal, private and where I find my daily encouragement when times get tough.  Because of my prayer time, I can find positive things that help me remain cheerful, optimistic, and in tune with my surrounding and circumstances. I love that about my personal relationship with God.  I love the grace and mercy I find there, in addition to the solace and love I receive from Him.

So without further ado, I thought I would share a little bit about my prayer journal.  It is a simple lined notebook I picked up at my local Michael's Craft Store.  I then divided it into sections, beginning with delight so I can jot down the daily joys I'm thankful for.  Next, I created a space to pray for my husband and our marriage.  After God, my spouse is the second most important thing to me and I desire to have a strong, Christ centered marriage that outlasts the test of time.  Third came sections for family and friends, then a section for me to write specific prayers for myself.  Last, I dedicated the rest of the book for answered prayers, praises, and notes.   I printed these sections out on clear vellum and then adhered them to the pages with washi tape.

I have recently added this set of journal cards to my shop so you too can enjoy them.  In addition, I wanted to offer one of my favorite scriptures (paraphrased) as a FREE PRINTABLE that you can download as encouragement in your own walk with the Lord.

I thank you for taking the time to read this today and please, feel free to share any prayer requests that you may have as I am more than happy to pray for you also, my dear friends and readers! Much love!

12 x 12 Baseball Theme Pocket Pages with a Free Printable and Coupon Code for Feed Your Craft!

Hi everyone! Happy Thursday! I'm here today to share a recent layout I did while filling some of the gaps I have in my 2015 album.  Also, I have a free printable for you at the end of this post!

Feed Your Craft Creative Team Layout by Mandy of Turquoise Avenue - a fun, 12x12 pocket page scrapbook page using baseball/gameday themed mini flair embellishments.

One of our favorite things to do each year is to plan for and attend an Atlanta Braves game.  I always come home with loads of photos and enjoy putting together spreads with our favorite memories from the day.  In the years past, I've always had trouble finding just the right embellishments for my layouts. But this year, when I came across the custom flair pieces by Feed Your Craft, I was elated!  I used the custom Football Fan Set and thesets combine to create these pages. I just love how they turned out!  GO BRAVES!

December Daily® Page - I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas Free Printable!

Hi friends!  Today I'm here to share a super fun layout I created in my December album.  One night while my husband and I were Christmas shopping at Target, I happened upon the cutest hippopotamus cookie jar.  I pointed it out to him and excitedly requested it for Christmas.  He just stood there laughing me as I hopped up and down insisting I wanted it. He took a photo of it on his phone and I'm really hoping it's one of the gifts I get this year!

How to Scrapbook for FREE! | 5 Ways to Find Free Items

Pin This: 5 ways to scrapbook using FREE items! Save money and win!

Pin This: 5 ways to scrapbook using FREE items! Save money and win!

Many of us know just how expensive crafting can be. If you’d like to know how to scrapbook on a budget or how to scrapbook for free, you’ve come to the right place.  Around here, we prioritize where our money goes. Savings, retirement, insurances - you know the drill.  While I do spend money on my scrapbooking hobby, I like to challenge myself to find new ways to make such an important aspect of my purpose as a memory keeper as inexpensive as possible so I can devote my funds to other areas of life.

I try to think outside the box when it comes to keeping my budget happy so I have found a few ways to use free items and not spend any money at all. Today, I’m going to share some of those ideas with you. No, they’re not novel ideas and have probably been done before but nonetheless, they’re good ideas to consider if you’re trying to save a little money but still want to preserve your family’s memories.

Note: This blog post contains affiliate links.

1. Use What You Have and Minimize

I covered both of these topics under How to Scrapbook on a Budget, but honestly, I can’t say enough about either concept. Instead of buying embellishments, look around your home to see what you can use. I used a bottle cap in this layout, a gift tag in this layout, printed a map from Google as a journal card, and included money and receipts in this layout!  Not to mention, I keep my layouts simple.  To me, it's more important to document the memories and stories than it is to fill my pages up with stickers and store bought things.

2. Join a Creative Team

In exchange for your time and talent, many of the creative team opportunities out there offer discounted or free designs and products.  This is a great way to receive items at little or no cost on a regular basis and have plenty of new items to choose from. I have worked on several creative teams since the beginning of the year and have found it to be a really rich experience - I’ve made wonderful friends, enjoyed products I didn’t even know existed, and have access to a plethora of beautiful designs.

3. Enter Giveaways

With the craze that is social media these days, many large companies (and even the small ones) offer giveaways occasionally.  Take the time to follow your favorite suppliers online and watch for when they hold a giveaway.  I always take the time to enter when I see a brand I like or want to try out and it's worked out great for me. I won a Fuse tool from the Lilypad, a three month subscription from Felicity Jane, and tons of other fun little giveaways.

4. Search for Freebies

Online there are hundreds of different avenues for finding free downloads, printables, classes, and tutorials.  You can browse freebies right here on my website, follow my Pinterest board of freebies, view my Bloglovin’ freebie collection here, and sign up for various company’s newsletters to receive additional freebies!

5. Swap with Friends!

Sometimes those stickers you have in your collection that you’re never going to use are just the thing a friend may have needed to complete a page. You can easily set up swaps between friends to grab new-to-you, free products. It's a win/win for everyone! The same goes for tools and other items that you may need to only once, you can always borrow and return!

Come share your favorite ideas and freebie links with me in the comments below, I’d love to hear from you!

Let's Go Shopping | Weekly Photo & Journal Prompt with Free Journal Cards!

attachment-5546d253e4b067ba8b4836a3

One of my favorite things about the creative Instagram community I'm actively involved is in meeting new friends. A couple of months ago I began following Tiffany because her account was "suggested" to me by Instagram. After browsing her feed but for a few seconds, I was instantly drawn to her.  Now that I've talked with her and gotten to know her, I can tell you what a sweet and talented person she is!  She is with us today, bringing us a fresh, fun new prompt and some gorgeous, vibrant journal cards from her BRAND NEW SHOP!

"Shopping. Everyone generally has to go shopping in one capacity or another on a regular basis, whether we like it or not.  There are some types of shopping I love: clothes shopping (with a few exceptions), furniture shopping, shoe shopping, etc.  There’s also some types of shopping that I do because I have to, but not necessarily because I enjoy it. Grocery shopping tops that list along with shopping for jeans and swimsuits.  Recently, I’ve had to do a lot of clothes shopping for my kids.  With the change in season, I generally buy some items on clearance for the next year and then also some new items for the coming season.  I was purchasing everything from swimsuits and sunglasses to earmuffs and flannel pajamas.  So this week, snap a quick picture when you’re out shopping.  It can be whatever you’re buying/looking at or where your shopping or even who you’re shopping with.  Have fun with it and I can’t wait to see what everyone posts under #hashtagthisweek."
