ABOUT THE BOOK:

He’s Hollywood’s biggest star. She wouldn’t know him from the pizza delivery guy.

I’m a wildlife biologist in a tiny mountain town, not some kind of law-breaking celebrity stalker. At least not on purpose.

It was an accident when I wandered onto the property of one of Hollywood’s hottest movie stars. Five minutes ago, I'd never even heard of Flint Hawthorne. I definitely didn’t know he lives in Silver Creek.

When I’m detained for trespassing, the last thing I expect is to trade my handcuffs for a designer gown. All I wanted was permission to conduct my research on a remote corner of his estate.

Now I’m walking the red carpet of a Hollywood movie premiere as Flint’s (very fake) girlfriend.

At least, the relationship is supposed to be fake. But the way he slips his arm around me, his breath tickling my ear, the chemistry feels like something real.

The trouble is, I’m not really built to handle his fast-paced celebrity life. Most days, I prefer the company of squirrels to people. I should be glad we’re only pretending.

I’m just not sure my heart got the memo.

Perfect for fans of swoony romantic comedy, this series finale from bestseller Jenny Proctor hits all the right notes!

Jenny Proctor has expertly delivered an absolutely fantastic series finale in How to Kiss a Movie Star! Pairing a handsome, well-known actor with a socially awkward, yet brilliant biologist, she pulls out all the stops in this hilarious, dreamy romance!

  • Fake Dating Trope

  • Sizzling Chemistry / Romance

  • White Squirrels

MY Thoughts:

I loved this book from the first few lines and could hardly put it down, wanting to return to it as soon as I did!  This novel is one that immediately wraps you up in the chemistry between the FMC and MMC, eagerly wanting to cheer for them to come together and dying to see what happens next. The tension and magnetism were palpable… and the inner dialogue was fantastic!

Dr. Audrey Callahan was a lead who surprised me in many ways. I found her easily relatable and somewhat-introverted, yet fun and quirky as well. She is true to herself and that alone is admirable. She is also strong, driven and brilliant. Witnessing her step outside of her comfort zone was rewarding, not to mention full of mild angst and smile-inducing moments as certain realizations about herself surface. Her relationship with her sisters and family was sweet as well. Side note: I also LOVED that Proctor included the white squirrels who are native to the Brevard, NC area as they are some of my favorite animals on earth!

Flint Hawthorne is every ladies’ man! He’s gorgeous, wealthy, popular and a total softy! I enjoyed seeing his character evolve and watching him fall for Audrey as well as support and protect her. It’s always fun to watch the popular guy fall for the wallflower! He was the perfect gentleman, the perfect hero and really, probably, my favorite Hawthorne brother (Sorry, Brody!).  My heart went out to him time and again for the things he had to endure all in the name of fame.

The fake dating trope was well done in this story and it’s one of my favorites so I do not enjoy it when it’s not presented well. This was not only believable, it was flirty and fun, making the romance enjoyable, sexy and oh-so-good.

Of course, like the other books in this series, I highly enjoyed the secondary characters who often made me laugh-out-loud with their antics, the sweet threads of family and brotherhood/sisterhood, and of course, the text conversations. Plus, all the re-appearances from other characters in the previous books from this series. Lastly, I can’t forget points for the jet-setting locations of the Blue Ridge Mountains to NYC to L.A.  So fun!

Summary:

A must-read and a definite recommendation if you enjoy books that are clean and wholesome but include steamy, swoon-worthy romance and threads of family, love, respect and humor! This book reads as a standalone but will be enjoyed most if the other books in the series are read in order previously.

Content + Trigger Notes:

PG Rated (making out, detailed kissing, some suggestive phrases, no nudity, swearing or explicit content).
