EDUCATIONAL & FUN

The Beginner’s Bible Preschool Workbook is a great resource loaded with fun, challenging activities that build knowledge and fine motor skills for kids ages 3-5.

Another great feature is the faith-based aspect that is truly wonderful for homeschooling parents, or teachers, who are looking for something to help build an education centered around a biblical basis. Plus, this resource pairs well with other products in the Beginner’s Bible collection!

This brand new, awesome resource from Zonderkidz couldn’t have come at a better time for our little girl! At the preschool age, she’s finding enjoyment in occasionally sitting down to do “schoolwork”. Our decision to homeschool her in these tender years was not an easy one. However, for us, building a faith-based, strong foundation for her academic career is paramount. As a result, I love finding resources that encourage my daughter to learn more about God and His Word, while also giving her the tools she will need when she enters kindergarten.

The Beginner's Bible Preschool Workbook

Based on The Beginner’s Bible, this collection of activities in The Beginner's Bible Preschool Workbook will encourage young children ages 3 to 5 to grow in their faith and have fun while learning their letters and numbers and practicing their fine motor skills. Children will enjoy over 200 pages of activities, including handwriting exercises, letter and number activities, mazes, connect-the-dots, matching games, and more.

My Review: This preschool workbook is broken down into four sections that make it simple for young children to practice different skills. The four categories are: Fine Motor Skills, Letter and Letter Sound Recognition, Number Recognition and Counting and Miscellaneous Skills (Mazes, Matching and More).

What I Love: At the top of each page is a sentence or two that ties the activity to God’s Word, then gives a directive for the activity below. The illustrations are Bible themed, offering colorful, eye-catching illustrations of animals, people and objects that are found in biblical stories. The words and text are large, making it easy for young children to identify sight-words and numbers.

The paper pages are a thick quality, making the book a sturdy product overall. There is no prep work for the teacher or parent. Just grab the book, read the one line direction and go (depending on child’s skill level)!

There are also some practice sheets in the back which could be removed and slipped into a dry-erase sleeve or laminated for reusing over and over (I love this laminator)!

Also, this workbook pairs very nicely with the Beginner’s Bible (which we read each evening before bedtime), the Beginner’s Bible Learn Your Letters dry erase book and the Beginner’s bible Learn Your Numbers dry-erase book.

What I Wish This Book Had: Being a workbook that is broad in spectrum of skill-levels and age-ranges, it would have been nice to have the workbook broken into skill-level sections.

My daughter, being just three and at the beginning stages of learning, will easily be able to do some of the activities such as tracing simple lines, number and letter recognition and simple mazes or matching games. However, there are some more advanced activities that require a child to trace full words, or even draw pictures and write words (copy work) on their own. I know my daughter isn’t ready for those activities and I would have loved it if the workbook had sectioned the beginner pages in the front, working up to an intermediate level in the middle and more advanced level towards the end.

For now, when using this workbook, I’ll choose pages and activities in advance based on her current skill level, which means a little extra prep time for me. I think the fact that she won’t be able to do the activities in the order they appear may frustrate her a bit. Another alternative solution I’m considering is to remove the pages she can do now and have her complete them outside of the workbook, however, the pages are not perforated for easy removal.

In Summary: Overall, this is a GREAT educational resource absolutely loaded with fun and engaging learning activities that pairs well with several other products in the Beginner’s Bible collection. It offers a wide variety of skill levels and offers challenging activities that build knowledge and skills for ages 3-5. The faith-based aspect is truly wonderful for parents or teachers who are looking for something to help build an education centered around a biblical basis. I will most definitely be recommending this workbook to our friends and family and I’m certain we will enjoy using it in our home as well!
