THRILLING ROMANTIC SUSPENSE

An Intricately Woven Story of Riveting Suspense, Horrifying Terror and Captivating Mystery… Mary Alford Delivers A Novel Full of Intrigue, Faith and Romance

New-to-me author Mary Alford delivered a terrifying romantic suspense that had me captivated from the very beginning.  Holding nothing back, she opened with the gruesome murder of a young Amish woman, being preyed upon by a deadly predator.  I was instantly riveted to this story and believe other readers might be too.

When Leah Miller's entire Amish family was murdered ten years ago, the person believed responsible took his own life. Since then, Leah has left the Amish and joined the police force. Now, after an Amish woman is found murdered with the same MO, it becomes clear that the wrong man may have been blamed for her family's deaths.

As Leah and the new police chief, Dalton Cooper, work long hours struggling to fit the pieces together in order to catch the killer, they can't help but grow closer. When secrets from both of their pasts begin to surface, an unexpected connection between them is revealed. But this is only the beginning.

What will it mean for Leah--and Dalton--when the full truth comes to light?

"Mary Alford weaves an intricate pattern of murder and mystery among the Amish. Readers will be compelled to keep turning the pages until they uncover the truth."--Nancy Mehl, author of the Quantico Files

MY REVIEW: ★★★★/5

New-to-me author Mary Alford delivered a terrifying romantic suspense that had me captivated from the very beginning.  Holding nothing back, she opened with the gruesome murder of a young Amish woman, being preyed upon by a deadly predator.  I was instantly riveted to this story.

What I liked:

Alford masterfully wove an intricate story of mystery and horror, keeping me on the edge of my seat and immensely invested. As details and plot twists rose to the surface, I found the suspense to be exciting, horrific and expertly crafted. I was surprised at the raw nature of the story which made this carefully planned work of fiction feel authentic and real without becoming too heavy or gory, despite the nature of a serial killer at work.  There were some tender faith-based elements woven throughout as well that offered light and balance to the story.

I enjoyed the heroine, Leah Miller, and found her past heartbreaking. Witnessing her overcome the pain of her past to move forward and help those in need in the present day was a testament to her character’s strength and something I found inspiring. I also enjoyed Dalton Cooper’s character with his quiet determination and protective nature surrounding Leah. Their romance was a slow-burn that I found to be subtle and sweet.

Fans of the popular CBS television show, Criminal Minds, may enjoy this story and it is one I recommend to readers with a light cautionary content note that this novel contains gory murder details and a hard glimpse into the mind of a serial killer.

Summary:
