3 Star Book Review: Countdown by Lynette Eason, Extreme Measures Book 4 | A Romantic Suspense Novel

Flight paramedic Raina Price has been running so long it's hard to stop. To escape a dangerous stalker, she changed her name and disappeared, building a new life with the help of a friend from her time in juvie. It feels good to put her energies into saving people's lives, but because her stalker was never found, she's never stopped looking over her shoulder. And one can only run so far before the past finally catches up.
US Marshal Vincent Covelli's job is to hunt down fugitives and protect those who are assigned to him. When Raina is almost killed right in front of him, he vows to protect her at all costs--whether it's his job or not. Together they work to solve the mystery of Raina's past. But someone is out to make sure Raina doesn't live long enough to succeed.

As a long time reader of romantic suspense, especially in the Christian fiction world, I’ve found Lynette Eason to be a reliable, creative source for an exciting read time and again. This newest novel in her Extreme Measures series moved at a great pace, kept me invested and as always, had lovable, heroic characters with deep pasts and dark secrets.

Main character and flight paramedic Raina Price proved to be a wonderful female lead whom I greatly admired. Without giving too much of the story away, she overcame a dark past, faced difficult decisions and moved forward with a strength and resilience that was admirable in her character. I rooted for her from the very beginning and she might be my favorite female lead in this series! U.S. Marshal Vince Covelli was a surprising, and sweet, hero with a fiercely protective nature and determined grit. I loved these two together and enjoyed watching their friendship grow into romance.
The suspense in this novel ebbed and flowed at a great pace. As the plot unfolded, the action intensified and kept me engrossed in the story. While I didn't notice an element of surprise over the ending, I still found it to be heartwarming and satisfactory in how Eason tied the four books of this series together in deep friendships and sweet reunions.
With elements of romance, faith and trust, this suspense read is sure to delight readers who enjoy a high-stakes, hidden-threat type of story!

Mysterious · Suspenseful · Thrilling
Author Lynette Eason delivers a brand romantic suspense with so many twists and turns, it is sure to keep readers guessing!
I absolutely loved this psychological thriller! Its great pace kept me on the edge of my seat and wondering what was coming next! Loved the element of surprise and not knowing what was coming next. Each puzzle piece fit together so well by the end, I kept saying I should have seen it coming but was glad I did not. A must read!
