Bible Investigators: Creation

Puzzles and Activities for independent learning

By Danika Cooley

Published by The Good Book Co.

ABOUT THIS BOOK:

Bursting with 90 brain-teasing puzzles, 40 Bible passages, and 30 concepts regarding God’s creation, this lesson-and-activity book will give kids aged 8-12 skills to investigate the Bible for themselves—like a real investigator!

As kids apply logic and solve challenging puzzles, they will dive deeply into Scripture and examine the Bible’s account of creation, picking up lots of skills for reading and interpreting the Bible.

As well as lots of puzzles, there are journaling boxes for kids to reflect on, interpret, and apply what they have learned.

The book includes a link to free downloads that include reproducibles for more than one child, so families or classes can easily work together.

My Thoughts:

As a homeschool Mom, I get super excited to find resources like this available! Oh, how I wish something like this was around when I was a kid. I would have loved it! What a great, highly entertaining way to practice logic, reasoning and skill-building with fun puzzles, secret codes, word games and research!

While my child is too young at aged 5 for this book, we will be hanging on to it for a few years from now. The first thing I loved about this book is that it teaches children to 1. Observe, 2. Interpret and 3. Apply. What a foundation for understanding God’s Word and learning to discern and apply it to daily life!

I thought this book was jam-packed with wonderful games and creative learning tools. It presents more as a textbook than activity book, and it’s nearly 260 pages long which I believe would be useful for 1-2 school semesters. There are thought provoking prompts, creative prompts, a few conversation prompts and even prayer prompts throughout. The book dives deeply into Scripture and the six days of Creation.

My favorite aspect of the book is how it walks participants through Creation, to God creating them, giving them good gifts and then laying out the need for and plan of salvation. This is something not often found in modern day resources and I was very grateful to find it in this one.

This valuable, informational resource would be wonderful for family devotional time, homeschool families, churches and schools. It is also a fantastic boredom buster for traveling or rainy days. If you have a child who loves to look for clues and investigate or play word games, this is definitely for them!
