JUNE RELEASE DAY FOR KELLIE STAMPS! | Creating 6x8 Hybrid Scrapbook Pages Using Digital Stamps Collections

GUESS WHAT DAY IT IS?!  That's right, it's RELEASE DAY at Kellie Stamps!  It's a little bittersweet for me because this is my last month for this term with the KS Creative Team.  I'm really going to miss these great gals and working with Kellie's designs regularly, but she already knows I'm a customer for life!

Kellie has two really awesome, new sets available which I'm featuring below.  As a hybrid artist, I just love using her digital stamps for titles in my pages. I can easily color them to match my photos and they make excellent focal points, as you can see!

PROJECT ONE:  THIS GIRL COLLECTION

This first set, This Girl, is super fun.  There's some pretty hilarious phrases in the set. Another personal favorite of mine is the one that says "This girl needs a donut."  LOL!    For the page I made creating with this set, I simply printed the 100% tired phrase off on white paper and used a tag punch to make a tag to slip behind my photo. Because of the bold text, it really makes an awesome eye catching embellishment.

PROJECT TWO:  CURRENTLY COLLECTION

For this second spread, I used the new Currently collection which is so stinking perfect for basically everything.  It's a versatile collection that's worth having in your stash of digital stamps (or physical stamps!).  For this layout, I made another tag and colored it pink in Photoshop Elements before I printed so it would tie in with the photo.  I included some elements from Pink Paislee's birthday collection and really love how this layout came together. It's simply darling.    Also, I must mention that the majority of the paper you see in these two spreads is from Felicity Jane Studio and the text template is from Paislee Press.

LET'S GET PERSONAL | INSPIRATION FOR DOCUMENTING YOURSELF - PART TWO!

Hi everyone!

For those of you who have been following along, we've been talking about the important of documenting yourself and telling YOUR story! We, as women and memory keepers, often get so tied up in documenting our children's, our family, and our travels that we often forget or skip over the importance of recording ourselves. We are usually the one taking the photos or making the scrapbook pages and therefore, we get lost behind the story.  Since starting this mini series, I've found just how many of you WANT to tell your story, but just aren't sure how or where to get started. If you're feeling like that right now, be sure to visit the other posts in this series!

1. DOCUMENTING YOURSELF AND FITTING INTO THE "I DON'T" OR "I WANT TO" CATEGORIES.

2. DOCUMENTING YOURSELF AND COMBATING WHAT IS HOLDING YOU BAC

3. WHY, HOW AND WHEN YOU SHOULD DOCUMENT YOURSELF

4. INSPIRATION FOR DOCUMENTING YOURSELF, PART 1

And today I have a second round of inspiration for you!

Today, I have two more very special ladies who've shared how they are currently documenting themselves with some beautiful inspiration for you!

First up, we have Jamie Pate... Jamie's traditional scrapbook page showcases a very precious and touching story about her faith.

Here are some thoughts from Jamie:

Rhonna Farrer recently asked the question: "Have you ever thought of Selfies being a form of personal history?" Story means so much to me. And since I am living out my own story, it's important that I document just what it is that is inside my heart and head. Too often I assume that those who live with me or around me just know what's going on with me. It's not true. I have to get out of my head and write down my words and stories. Because it matters. It matters to me. It matters to those who will read the words and see the photo. Our personal stories matter.

I just love Jamie's thought here about how no one knows, or always understands, what is going on in your heart or life. It does matter and it's your responsibility to document it! You can visit Jamie on her blog or follow her on Instagram for more lovely inspiration!

Up next is Amy, who is a constant source of inspiration and encouragement on documenting herself.  She really focuses on the story behind her creative pages and I just love that!

Read what Amy has shared with us:

I document myself because no one but me can tell my story. No else but me is going to tell my story. And sure: I could (and do) write in my journal about myself. But there is a different sort of happiness and satisfaction in matching a story, an experience, or a piece of knowledge with a photo. My experiences didn't lose their importance when I became a mother; in fact, they became more important, because some day in the future one of my descendants might want to know about my life. Honestly, though, I scrapbook about myself mostly because it brings me a sense of closure, almost: documenting one of my experiences makes it feel more real and permanent. It is a way of processing the good, bad, happy, difficult, memorable, and mundane parts of my life.

Isn't that so perfect?  You can follow along with Amy right here on her blog and join her on Instagram as well.

Next, is my good friend Julie, who you might know from my work with LittlePaperProjects.com. Julie is continually evolving in her memory keeping about herself and because of that, she's a fantastic source of continual inspiration!

Here a couple of quotes from Julie's blog and her thoughts behind her traveler's notebook stories:

Photo 1. | So what do you do when you have this great story to tell, you write it out, and post it somewhere? Is that the end of it? Does it stay there, buried in your newsfeed, for eternity? Or do you document it, in some way, so that you can refer back to it in the years to come?
Photo 2. | Every single time I go through a period of hardship, I know – even during the most difficult days – that this will shape me for the better. That I will grow. And that the new version of me, the version that comes after the struggle, will be someone I like even more than the person I was yesterday.  That’s the beauty of challenge: it shapes you.

Julie's thoughts are so profound and unique! They only further my reason in saying that YOUR story matters!

So, LIVE IT.    SHARE IT.   DOCUMENT IT!

You can find Julie here on her blog or follow her on Instagram for more inspiration!

Modern Memory Keeping | Using 6x8 Minimalist Template from Paislee Press as a 9x12 Pocket Page Overlay

Hey everyone!

I just had to share this page super quick.  I'm still catching up in my 2016 album and had one particular day where my family and I went exploring in the National Park. We took a ton of photos with our GoPro that day so I had a photo-heavy layout. I wanted to keep everything condensed to one page and realized I had no where to journal!

I decided to choose my favorite photo of the day, a photo of all four us, and used this template from Paislee Press to highlight the story in a 6x8 overlay for the photo-heavy 9x12 page.  Seriously, you guys... Minimalism at it's best!

Why haven't I done this before???

I'm obsessed. I'll definitely be returning to this technique soon!

What do you think?

How do you work in journaling or stories when you have spreads with so many photos?

Happy Thoughts | 6x8 Pocket Page Spread featuring Positive Vibes by Paislee Press

Happy Monday friends!  While I may not have started working on my 2017 Annual Pocket Page Album, I have created a few spreads in my 6x8 personal album.  I really love this size, it's just so fun to work with and I don't feel like I need a large group of photos or stories to work with.

Recently, Liz over Paislee Press released the cutest edition of digital designs called Positive Vibes. I fell in love the with color palette first and then with the phrases the kit offers.  You've got to go check out!

New Year, New Feels, Same Dreams... | Around Here Update and 6x8 Pocket Page Spread featuring One Little Bird Designs

Whoa January, slow down!

If you're like me, you're still feeling excited about the new year but wondering where this month has gone. I can't believe we are already 3/4 of the way through January!

6x8 pocket page by Mandy Elliott of Turquoise Avenue, featuring This Year, designs by Peppermint Granberg of One Little Bird Designs.

Recently, I shared my 2017 memory keeping goals.  I was excited about them when I wrote them out and I still am. However, time has really gotten away from me.  There's been a variety of things happening here personally, work related and creatively so I'm going to do a quick recap and share some things that are in the works.

Personal Happenings:

  • I began working from home! I love my new relaxed dress code and enjoy having Addie nearby
  • Hubby and I are working on a TOP SECRET project we hope to share really soon.
  • Cleaning out #alltheclosets and prepping for a garage sale and scrapbook destash instasale! (purging feels so good)
  • Set a goal to read 20 books!  See what I'm reading on GoodReads.com
  • Began waking up earlier (Hello 6AM!) to tackle house and creative projects before work.
  • Went to the eye doctor for a long overdue eye exam and ordered new glasses and contacts.

Creative Happenings:

With everything that's been going on, I've barely taken any photos for the new year. At this point, I'm ok with that.  I haven't yet started on my 2017 9x12 pocket page album and I'm ok with that too.  This year I decided instead of forcing myself to create, I will allow myself grace to work as the inspiration hits and as my schedule permits. Right now, I'm just happy to be staying on top of my creative team projects, keeping my house clean and finding time to dive into a great book or spend time with family.

I can't wait to share more here... I'm not setting any definite blogging goals but I do hope to share here a bit more often than I have been. In addition, I hope to be bringing you some new products, a relatively more frequent newsletter and some awesome projects/tutorials.

MY 2016 DECEMBER ALBUM - A HOLIDAY MEMORY KEEPING PROJECT WITH LINKS TO PRODUCTS SHOWN!

Hi everyone! Here we are, nearly half way through the month of December and I'm just now getting around to sharing a peek into my album.

Let me start by saying I created my 2016 cover page (shown below) and fell in love with this little holiday album. I had so much fun creating my album last year, that I really looked forward to this year.  I wanted to keep thing simple, coordinated and really focus on the stories of the season.  In my mind, I saw exactly what I wanted this album to be.

However, over the last two weeks, I've struggled immensely with getting it right.  What I mean by that is, my heart doesn't seem to be in it. I WANT my heart to be in it and I've made time to create, but many times when I sit down to craft, the pages just aren't coming together like I wanted them to. I've taken them apart, redone them, set them aside and come back later...  In the end, I just feel blah. My album feels haphazard and uncoordinated, which is so unlike me.

I have never had this happen, friends.

I've thought long and hard about what's going on, why this isn't working for me right now and I simply decided that my heart is in another place

So for now, here are the pages I have created this far.  My plans for the project are to still compete it, but not under any timeline. Not this month, and maybe not even next month. But rather, when I can invest more of my heart into it.

Until then, I plan to still journal my memories and continue taking photos of this holiday season.  If the inspiration and desire hit, I'll most certainly work on my album...

I guess what I'm trying to tell you is that if life has a way of overwhelming you or stealing your joy, especially at this season, don't be afraid to extend yourself a little grace. Take away the self imposed deadlines and stop comparing yourself and your work to others. Create and memory keep because YOU want to, in WHATEVER way works best for you at that particular time. If I can do it, you can do it too.

All my love my friends... Happy Holidays!

Home | 6x8 Digital Scrapbook Page featuring Template and Designs by Paislee Press

Over the last two years, I've dabbled in some digital scrapbooking.  I have created many digital pocket page layouts but lately, I'm finding myself drawn to the crisp, clean feel of a minimal digital 6x8 layout.  Liz from Paislee Press makes creating these pages so simple using her awesome Press Plate templates

I created this page recently and loved how it turned out so I was excited to come back for a second creative team submission to share the layout below.

There's something magical about using one photo, journaling a sweet, sentimental story and adding only one or two embellishments.

6x8 Digital Scrapbooking | 29 Things for 29 List and One Little Bird Designs

Hi everyone! How would you like a random Friday share?  Today is a little dreary outside, so as I sit and watch the rain, I've had some free time to browse some memory keeping inspiration and share some in return!

Today, Peppermint Granberg shared the Birds of a Feather Creative Team Inspiration post over on the One Little Bird Designs blog.  I just finished browsing all the gorgeousness there by my fellow teammates and I feel energized and inspired for a weekend of creating!

In return for the inspiration I have found, I wanted to share a little of my own.  Below is a 6x8 digital layout I created in Photoshop Elements using the Forever Young collection from One Little Bird.

6x8 Digital Scrapbooking - List 29 Things to Do in your 29th year. Featuring the Forever Young collection by Peppermint Granberg, One Little Bird Designs.

This layout came to be as a result of several factors. First, I was inspired by various other artists who've created lists of things they want to do in a certain time frame, using specific numbers.  I thought it would be fun to create a 29 list for my 29th year.  Next, I was browsing the One Little Bird store over at the Lilypad and came across the Forever Young collection. It just really spoke to me.  At the very moment I saw the kit, the layout began forming in my mind. Since I would eventually like to include it in my personal mini album for this year but time was limited, I created the page digitally right then and there while the inspiration was hot.  I love how it turned out and will be printing it in full 6x8 form to slip into some page protectors for my album soon.

Documenting Text and Online Conversations | 6x8 Pocket Page Scrapbook Layout Feautring Paislee Press

Hi friends!  Join me online for #memorykeepingmonday and share your recent projects!

Little by little I'm working on my personal mini album... As I celebrate this last year in my twenties, I've been doing more thinking and journaling about how things have changed in my lifetime.

One of things I wrote about it was how I keep in touch with my friends and family now vs. when I was a teenager.  In high school, laying in bed and talking on a cordless land line or using AOL dial-up internet to send an email was all the rage. Now, I stay in touch via text message or an app on my iphone like Facebook or Instagram.  I thought it would be fun to document these things because who knows how things will change in another 20 years... In fact, my husband and I have already gotten a big kick out of this layout I created last year where I documented one of our first conversations over the internet when we met several years ago.

I used the new For Like Ever journal card, paper and elements collection from Paislee Press to assemble this layout.  I added in one small 3x4 cut of some xoxo paper I loved from the Something Sweet Felicity Jane kit. I aslo added in some screenshots of my iPhone home screen, Facebook page and Instagram to have to look back on in the years to come.  I really loved how the pages turned out and the story that they tell.
