Simple, Easy Scrapbooking | 9x12 Pocket Page Scrapbook layout by Turquoise Avenue featuring designs by One Little Bird.

I take a lot of pictures.  Most memory keepers do. I believe it somehow just a part of who we are. I always love to look through my photos after a trip and figure out which ones tell the best story. At the same time, I enjoy choosing photos that are just pretty. Whenever that happens, I end up needing to incorporate a lot of photos into a spread. That is when I make use of an insert. My inserts range from all different sizes, just depending on how many photos and cards I want to fit.

Simple, Easy Scrapbooking | 9x12 Pocket Page Scrapbook layout by Turquoise Avenue featuring designs by One Little Bird.

This spread from a day trip we took is the perfect example of this concept.  I had so many photos I wanted to fit, I just couldn't help myself! I ended up with FOUR 9x12 pages and a 6x12 insert.  When coordinating this layout, I chose cards and elements from the One Little Bird store, selecting designs that brought out the historical aspect of my photos. I am very happy with the outcome of this spread.

Exploring Weekend | 9x12 Hybrid Pocket Page Spread with Insert, featuring designs by One Little Bird - Simple, easy scrapbooking!

Give me a day off work, a little food and a chance to explore and I'm one happy gal!

My favorite past time is just hanging out. Not particularly doing anything aside from exploring, taking photos and enjoying life. This particular weekend back in early March was a relaxing weekend where we walked several miles on our local greenbelt and treated ourselves to our favorite fast food restaurant. Notice I said we walked off those calories! lol.

Coordinating my journal cards and elements with my photos is one of my favorite things to do. I enjoy finding and using elements and word art that helps me tell the story of spread. Which is usually why you see me using various digital elements from multiple kits. In the layout below, I even used the french fry bag from our food that afternoon because seriously... Love the graphic and word art. It's killer.

Chapters | 9x12 Pocket Page Layout using One Little Bird Designs

It is no secret that I love a good book. Especially a historic fiction piece.  I grew up absorbing myself in library books and loved reading autobiographies and tales of the Oregon Trail.  I've branched out, of course, and read many different genres of books over the years.  In my adult life, reading as many books as I read as a teenager is much difficult thanks to work schedules, house cleaning, and all that other boring stuff.  But,  I do still make time here and there to curl up and enjoy a warm story or two.

Obviously, I'm not alone in my love for reading... Peppermint Granberg of One Little Bird Designs recently released the Chapters collection. This delightful set brings out pops of gorgeous bright colors and focuses on book and stories.  I absolutely love it and know it will be a set I return to time after time.

I created this 9x12 pocket page layout using the Chapters collection. Telling the story of the month was a perfect way to add some journaling to that top middle card and I simply couldn't resist adding a few other fun pieces from the set as well.  If you would like to see more inspiration using this collection from the One Little Bird Creative Team, click here.

Road Trip | 9x12 Pocket Page Scrapbook Layout featuring Paislee Press.

Today, I'm sharing a quick layout from my 9x12 annual pocket page album with a spread using some of my January photos. Winter pictures tend to be really bland for me with a lot of contrast.  When that happens, I like to mix in a little black and white with small pops of color. Most of you who follow me, know that I like to incorporate elements that match the "theme" of my spread. Therefore I pulled elements and word art from the Road Trip and On the Road sets by Paislee Press. To complete my color palette, I mixed in some 3x4 cards using papers from Felicity Jane, the Goes With Everything and Artiste collections from Paislee Press.

For this layout, I pulled the orange from my husband's shirt and the teal from my winter coat to create a fun, winter spread. For us, this day was all about a road trip. It had recently snowed in our area so we snuck off to the mountains in hopes of a gorgeous winter day and instead found thick fog and layers of ice cascading off the mountain.  Even though it wasn't what we hoped for, it was a day well spent together.

At Home | 9x12 Pocket Page Scrapbook Layout feat. Paislee Press

If I were to be completely honest, I would tell you that I'm only halfway through January when it comes to the completion of my annual pocket page album.  I don't scrapbook weekly layouts, but rather group photos chronologically and create spreads based on photos with a common theme.  Even though I'm behind in getting my layouts done, my pictures through the beginning of April are printed and have been placed in the page protectors and album. I just need to add my cards, journaling and embellishments.

Come play along with me for #memorykeepingmonday and share your memory keeping projects online under that hashtag!

9x12 Pocket Page Scrapbook Layout about the magic of staying home using journal cards by Paislee Press.

A couple of weeks ago I had a creative team deadline for Paislee Press and was delighted to see that the collection being released involved elements about home.  We have been spending quite a bit of time at home lately in an effort to save money and tackle some projects that needed doing.  In addition, we've been blessed with comfortable weather and sunshine so we've have the added bonus of hanging out on our deck during the evenings and weekends.  Hence I had two page + insert spread of photos out on our deck that needed documenting.

Like always, I used some Design F page protectors that I trimmed down and modified with my fuse tool. Next, I incorporated a couple of other journal cards from Paislee Press's archives, using selections like the Current Temperature and Hello Sunshine cards from the Sunny Days Ahead kit.

As I put together this layout, I repeated a few of the journal cards I had chosen to give the spread a feeling of uniformity. I have noticed that I tend to do that a lot.  I like how to makes the spread come together.

I matched in one of the 6x8 papers from the Artiste collection by Paislee Press and pulled little elements from the Magic Hour collection Liz released in the past (May I tell you how much I LOVE that she has a kit devoted to the yummy light of early mornings and late evenings? It makes my photographer's heart all mushy).

I'm pretty happy with how this spread turned out, not to mention the special memories that got documented about our enjoyment of the new deck we built (ourselves!). Hard work really does pay off, my friends.

Milestone | 12x12 Pocket Page Scrapbook featuring One Little Bird Designs for #PocketPageThursday

As I have scrapbooked over the years, I've developed a system for editing and printing my photos. In addition, I've learned that taking those photos and slipping them into the page protectors really helps when I want to throw a quick layout together.  My entire 2012 collection of photos is all together, in a binder with photos in pockets. All that it is missing is journal cards and written memories.

Milestones | 12x12 Pocket Page Scrapbook layout by Mandy Elliott of Turquoise Avenue for the One Little Bird Creative Team

I really love having the photos already in the binder, in chronological order, so I can flip through them.  Usually as I flip through, some photos will inspire me as a layout I want to create or a certain story I want to tell.

Milestones | 12x12 Pocket Page Scrapbook layout by Mandy Elliott of Turquoise Avenue for the One Little Bird Creative Team

Take this layout for instance.  When Peppermint Granberg of One Little Bird Designs released her new Milestone collection, I knew I wanted to use that kit to document a specific, life changing event... While flipping through my album, our photos of us moving from our tiny, rented apartment into our newly purchased home immediately jumped out at me as a big milestone.  As an added plus, the yellow in the Milestone collection perfectly complimented my moving truck photos.

I added some journaling in Photoshop Elements, printed my cards and elements then cut them out and slipped them into the pockets next to the photos. Wham, bam! This layout was completed in fifteen minutes and a very important milestone in our lives was forever documented.

6x8 Pocket Page Layouts and Insert featuring the new Bright Ideas collection by Paislee Press

Hi everyone! For those of you who have been reading my blog for any length of time, you know that I usually post my memory keeping projects on Monday as part of what I call Memory Keeping Mondays.   I would like to formally invite you all to participate with me and share your projects each Monday morning on social media under #memorykeepingmondays.  I share mostly on Instagram and would love for you to follow me there and tag me in a comment on any of your #memorykeepingmonday posts. I'd love to see them!

Today I'm sharing a recent 6x8 layout I created for the Paislee Press CT using Liz's new Bright Ideas collection. This collection was part of the BYOC (Build Your Own Collaboration) release earlier this month.

6x8 Pocket Page scrapbook layout created by Turquoise Avenue, featuring the Bright Ideas collection and journal cards by Paislee Press.

There are several "crafty" elements in this collection that spoke to my creativity so I thought it would be fun to document my new journey with Liz's CT.  I added these pages into my personal 6x8 album, which I have yet to name, where I am documenting my last year in my twenties.  You can read more about that project here and here.

As always, I kept embellishments to a minimum for this spread, but I did create two small confetti pockets for my "insert", where I chose a 4x4 WRMK page protector and punched new holes for it to fit in my 6x8 binder.  I really love how these pages turned out and I hope you enjoy them also.

Recent Digital and Physical Layouts featuring designs by Little Lamm & Co.

Hi guys! Following this week's post using some designs from Little Lamm & Co., I thought it would be fun to share a round up of a few more recent layouts I've created using more of Amie's awesome designs for the creative team.

One thing I have to point out is how much I LOVE the Little Lamm & Co templates.  Especially for my 6x8 pages.  If you're in the market for some templates that will help simplify your digital process, please take a moment to browse Amie's store!

Below I've shared a combination of both digital and physical layouts. Enjoy!

Anthology by Little Lamm & Co.

I love this collection because of the navy blue! It is one of my favorite colors to work with and so hard to come by in digital collections.  This is by far one of my most beloved Little Lamm & Co. collections. I love its versatility and bold colors.

Forever by Little Lamm & Co.

This soft, beautiful collection is simply darling. There are so many elements that I really love in it and I can't wait to use it again and again!

I can never say enough about the Little Lamm & Co. templates! They make every page I create that much easier to put together. This two page spread took me under ten minutes!

Hush by Little Lamm & Co.

When Amie released this collection, I was surprised to see how many different designs and elements were available for this kit! She has specialized both a boy and girl kit with tons of gender neutral designs too!

I'd love to hear from you... what is your favorite Little Lamm & Co. collection?

12x12 Hybrid Pocket Pages featuring Little Lamm & Co. "Blink" | Memory Keeping Monday

I've mentioned in the past that one of my long term goals is to scrapbook images from years and years ago.  With Project Life style system of pocket pages, I find this task easier and easier.  Occasionally, via one of my creative teams or while I'm browsing one of my favorite journal card designers, I see a kit that jumps out as a perfect match for photos I have stored in picture boxes.  That's what happened with the "Blink" collection from Little Lamm & Co.  The soft, sweet colors and sentiments were so beautiful, I immediately knew I wanted to pair them with these photos of my niece from six years ago!  The beautiful pink colors are my absolute favorite part of this kit and I'm not really even a "pink" girl!

As you can see, I kept the embellishments minimal for this two page 12x12 spread.  I used a white bow and mini flair piece from one of last year's Felicity Jane kits in addition to a simple wood veneer embellishment I found in my stash.  I absolutely LOVE these pages and how everything ties together and tells a simple, happy story with photos.

#30DaysofLists 6x8 Pocket Page Layout featuring Let's Talk About by Paislee Press

6x8 Pocket Page scrapbook layout for #30daysoflists, featuring designs by Paislee Press, created by Turquoise Avenue. #paisleepressct

Welcome back for another #PocketPageThursday!

I'm playing along with #PocketPageThursday, a blog series by Jessica Upton of Color Cast Designs and Kellie Winnell of Kellie Stamps and Give a Girl a Blog. To find out more information, visit Jessica's blog post here.

I am excited to be sharing my first Paislee Press Creative Team project with you all today!  I am so excited to be working on this team. I've been a long time admirer of Liz's, from way back when I was doing photography and needed album templates.  She has such a lovely, minimal style and her designs really are the icing on the cake!

Recently, via Instagram, I won a month long subscription to #30daysoflists from Meg (@summonyourspark). I've never done this before, but if you remember, I LOVE LISTS so I was pretty excited about this opportunity.

6x8 Pocket Page scrapbook layout for #30daysoflists, featuring designs by Paislee Press, created by Turquoise Avenue. #paisleepressct

As I mentioned last week, I've begun a small 6x8 album to document my last year in my twenties and thought some of these lists would be the perfect way to document some things about myself this year.

When Liz released the Let's Talk About collection at Paislee Press, I was head over heels in love. It was the PERFECT addition to my lists and this page came together in a matter of ten minutes. Now that's what I'm talking about friends!  I'm excited to implement some more of these lists into this album in the next few weeks and I do hope to share the rest of them here.
